Ella Jane Higgins

Ella Jane Higgins was born at 5:20pm on 16th August 2009 weighing 620kgs, and 29cms long. She was perfect in every way, 5 fingers, 5 toes, but just too small to survive. Both me and Ella were poorly throughout out time together of 24 weeks however we always had hope our baby would survive after going through so much.

Ella died 30 minutes after birth peacefully in her Daddy's arms and our lives changed forever. If you knew me before you would know I am a different person completely. Love and grief changes you and Ella brought us so much joy even in her short life.

People may wonder why I fundraise, I am a Mum to Leah aged 5, pregnant with my third little diva and work full time, I think people think I am mad.. Maybe I am a little but fundraising brings me peace, helps us remember our little girl with only positivity and let's people know that actually its ok to talk about her - she was real, she lived, she had a name and she was our child. Baby loss is such a taboo subject even in this day and age and the thought of living our lives without being able to talk about her freely fills me with sadness.

Bliss have done so much for babies like Ella - yes she didn't survive however many babies born 24 weeks and even earlier have survived. Their support to the families, the NHS, research etc is invaluable and I will continue to support them for as long as I am able.

Our Ella did not live for long on this earth however she will live an eternity in our hearts.
